Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. ReadTally has no accounts and no login. Your library lives on your iPhone.

Where is my reading data stored?

On your device, in the app's own private storage. It isn't uploaded anywhere and I have no way to see it. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

Can I bring my library over from Goodreads or The StoryGraph?

Yes. Export your library as a CSV from that service, then in ReadTally tap the + button in the Library tab and choose Import from CSV.

Your ratings, page counts, shelves, and finish dates come across with the books, and anything already in your library is skipped rather than duplicated.

What does ReadTally Pro include?

ReadTally Pro unlocks the Insights dashboard — your reading pace and rhythm, genre trends over time, per-book reading journeys, and your taste profile. Adding books, scanning barcodes, logging sessions, and tracking progress are free and stay free.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by ReadTally. On your iPhone, go to Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → Subscriptions, or open Manage Subscriptions.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

I subscribed but Pro isn't showing up

Open Settings inside ReadTally and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you subscribed with.

Why does ReadTally want camera access?

Only to scan a book's barcode so you don't have to type its details in. The scan happens entirely on your device and no image is ever stored or sent anywhere. You can decline it and add books by typing instead.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual books and sessions inside the app, or delete the app from your iPhone to remove everything at once. Deleting is permanent.
